About LJF

Our association has over half a century of history:
LOISIRS DE FRANCE was created in 1954, its primary objective being ‘to organize, to the benefit of as many workers as possible, both manual and non-manual, as part of their leisure in general and their holidays in particular, activities that contribute to complete their moral, intellectual and civic education and the deepening of their culture.’
The activities of LOISIRS DE FRANCE are exclusively intended for the holidays of families and adults.
In 1959, LOISIRS DE FRANCE obtained for all the associations of its network the accreditation of an association for tourism and public education issued by the Ministry of Education.
At the same time, the first summer camp was held in Les Deux Alpes, Isère, France.
By 1965, our network comprised of 8 holiday centres that welcomed young people from 6 to 17 years of age. The growth of the young people’s sector required, in 1966, the creating of LOISIRS DE FRANCE JEUNES so that the activities of families and adults were separated from activities dedicated to children and teenagers. This decision was taken at a time when the responsible ministries were separate.
LOISIRS DE FRANCE is part of the first associations to be approved in 1967 by the General Commission on Tourism under the No. 67007.
These two associations (LOISIRS DE FRANCE and LOISIRS DE FRANCE JEUNES) operated in parallel until 1985.
In 1986, to simplify the red tape generated by these two associations whose goals were identical, it was decided to consolidate all the services under one label ‘LOISIRS DE FRANCE JEUNES’, which was from then on the only organisation to receive government approval.
Today, LOISIRS DE FRANCE JEUNES, a non religious association governed by the law of 1901, hosts families in some of its facilities, organises supervised holidays for children from 6 to 12 years of age and teenagers from 13 to 17 years of age in its own holiday centres approved by the security and fire services and those of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It also hosts and organises environmental awareness classes in coastal and mountain regions in all seasons in its own centres approved by the security and fire services and those of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It also organises sporting or cultural travelling camps in France and abroad, especially for teenagers from 13 to 17 years of age.
LOISIRS DE FRANCE JEUNES is the owner of holiday centres, managed by ELIOVA:
VALLOIRE and ST SORLIN D’ARVES, Savoie, and ST GEORGES D’OLERON, Charente Maritime. In addition, a permanent centre is rented at SAINT-CAST in Côtes d'Armor.
